How Often Should You Post on Your Facebook Wall?
Dan Zarrella, Social Media Scientist at HubSpot, researched a large group of Facebook pages, examining their characteristics for how much they posted, what they posted, how frequently they posted, etc. This was an effort to determine the commonalities among the pages that had a lot of fans or engagement.
Post on the weekend and early in the morning
One of the things he found in terms of timing is that posting on the weekend and in the mornings is optimum for getting a lot more engagement for your page.
If you think about that, you will find it makes sense. . . Facebook is very much the kind of thing you do after you go home from work, or you use it on the weekends to catch up with friends and family. So you’ll get a lot more engagement if you post on weekends and in the morning, before work starts.
Post updates every other day
The research also showed that you should post on your Facebook page every other day. If you’re on Facebook pumping your brand 4-5 or 10-20 times a day, you’re overloading your community and you’re not going to grow that way.
Along with this, make sure you don’t commit the “cardinal sin” of hooking your Twitter account into Facebook and auto-Tweet into Facebook as your status update.
